Wednesday Comics, the Flash. Story by Karl Kerschl and Brenden Fletcher, art by Karl Kerschl. Embiggen to behold.
This is one of the all-time best comic pages I’ve ever seen. Everything works together. The avant garde panel layout heightens the drama and adds a certain vertigo. The cool, muted coloring lends a great mood, punctuated by the repeated punches of Flash’s bright red costume (and Iris’ hair). The placement of the dialog balloons leads the eye and works as an integral part of the design. The pacing slows time and builds to an emotional crescendo. This is some stunningly brilliant sequential art. And I’m not even a Flash fan.
